Daniel Zúñiga González

Born in Minneapolis, MN, Daniel Zúñiga González was raised in both Minnesota and Mexico. In 2022, Daniel worked with Green Card Voices to publish his first children’s book Belonging in America and Mexico in both English and Spanish. A beautifully illustrated bi-lingual graphic memoir, his first book explores what it means to belong, survive and thrive, in Mexico and in America. While born in the US as an American citizen, Daniel and his family had to move back to Mexico when he was nine years old in order to not be separated. Once in Mexico, despite looking like his peers, Daniel struggled with being accepted in his country of origin. His search for belonging and return migration experience served as inspiration for his first book. Daniel moved back to the US as a teen along with his younger brother. By this time, Daniel had to re-learn the English language by taking ESL courses. He proudly graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis in 2022.
