Sun Yung Shin 신 선 영
신 선 영 Sun Yung Shin is a Korean-born poet and writer. She is a co-author of the picture book Where We Come From (Carolrhoda), illustrated by Dion MBD, currently a finalist for a 2023 Minnesota Book Award. She is the author of Cooper’s Lesson (Lee & Low Books), a bilingual Korean/English picture book illustrated by Kim Cogan and translated by Min Paek, and co-author of the forthcoming picture book about Grace Lee Boggs and James Boggs. She is the author of four poetry collections, including The Wet Hex, a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award, and Unbearable Splendor, winner of a 2017 Minnesota Book Award, and Skirt Full of Black, winner of an Asian American Literary Award. She is the editor of A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota and What We Hunger For: Refugee and Immigrant Stories about Food and Family; and co-editor of Outsiders Within: Writing on Transracial Adoption. She lives in Minneapolis with her family.
